Ways you can help

Individual & Group Opportunities

The Urban Ministry Center depends on the generosity of volunteers to meet the daily needs of our homeless neighbors. Every year, nearly 10,000 volunteers lend their heart and hands to our work. Our hope is that the work at Urban Ministry Center brings change in people’s lives – in the lives of our homeless neighbors and in the lives of volunteers. We invite you to become a part of this ministry.

Learn more about the opportunities to make a difference and take the first step by creating an account and completing our online volunteer form. Individual volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and attend an orientation. Select group opportunities can self-schedule.

All volunteers must be scheduled first – we need to know you’re coming! This enables us to ensure a rewarding experience and helps with safety and efficiency. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Donating your time and talents with a group can create an unmatched sense of camaraderie while helping neighbors who are vulnerable and homeless.

Group Opportunities are great for friends/family, civic groups, corporate groups, or faith groups!

  • Drink Group (3-4 people): Bring and serve drinks for 325 people experiencing homelessness. Your group will set up in the dining room of our soup kitchen and pass out drinks to neighbors as they pick up their lunch. Bring 325 individual chilled can soda or juice bottles and/or bottled water to serve. Sign up here
  • GardenWorks(2-12 people): Help us weed, harvest, and plant our garden! Please contact Krista Casey at
  • Collection Drive: Sponsor a collection drive of high-need items. See our Wishlist for our most needed items.
